Public Policies Science, Technology and Innovation

The study of incentive schemes and allocation of resources by the public sector in order to promote scientific and technological activities and innovation is one of the main concerns of LALICS. This area comprised of studies devoted to the analysis of public policies’ implications on the promotion of the learning economy.

Management of Innovation and knowledge

The learning economy must be studied from an applied perspective: the management of science, technology and innovation is the focus of this research area, in order to fully understand and design tools for knowledge management within organizations.

Internationalization of Science, Technology and Innovation

Activities of Science, Technology and Innovation expand beyond national borders. This research area includes studies of the interaction of Latin American domestic systems with transnational trade and investment activities, economic integration efforts in the region and the dynamics of international scientific space.

Innovation, Growth, Development and Inclusion

The link between innovation and the economy is at the center of attention at LALICS. In this research area we explore this relationship from Latin America perspective, considering the economic growth, development complexity and the need to involve the whole society in these processes.

Learning, Knowledge and Scientific and Technological Capabilities

At LALICS it is our understanding that the learning process is the most important for economic study. Therefore, this research area examines how knowledge and learning is organized in different organizations (universities, research centers, businesses, public agencies, non-governmental organizations, etc.) and how a dynamic accumulation process of scientific and technological capacity is generated.

Social Studies on Science, Technology and Innovation

The complexity of Science, Technology and Innovation activities requires a multidimensional approach; in which sociology, social psychology, history, the communication processes and the perception of social agents, among others, play an important role. The nexus of these different disciplines is the focus of this research area.
